Details

Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Applicants may be working in any discipline, on a topic concerning women and/or gender. The recipient will devote half time to teaching and program development and half
time to research. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the
possibility of renewal for a second year. Salary is $40,000 plus benefits.

The position is currently held by Sima Shakhsari (Stanford PhD, Anthropology, 2010; Dissertation Topic: “Blogging, Belonging, and Becoming: Cybergovernmentality and the Production of Gendered and Sexed Diasporic Subjects in Weblogistan”).

The Patricia A. Eichhorn Endowed Scholarship for Returning Students - $500 award

The scholarship is in support of non-traditional, returning students who are furthering their education.

After raising five children, Patricia Eichhorn returned to school and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction. In recognition of her leadership in providing financial assistance to students in transition seeking a second chance to have a productive and rewarding career, her family established the scholarship through an endowed gift to the University of Houston.

Friends of Women’s Studies: $250 Student Essay Prizes

The Women's Studies Program is pleased to announce two awards of $250, to be made in Spring 2011 to the best undergraduate and graduate essays on women's studies topics. The prizes are funded by the Friends of Women's Studies.  (You do not have to be a woman or a Women's Studies minor to enter.)

Deadlines

Applicants are invited for the Fall round of Graduate Student Travel Grants, for students presenting papers at conferences on women’s- and gender- studies topics. Deadline September 30, 2011.

All application material or essays should be turned into the Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Office, 624 Agnes Arnold Hall.
